In 2021, the band's single "Bad Dream Baby" from its Good Dog, Bad Dream EP became ubiquitous. Since then, the band has not let a year go by without introducing something new to independent radio stations. Indie-pop band Hippo Campus amassed a giant collection of singles since breaking through with its first full-length album, Landmark, in 2017. Dave Matthews Band brings the jams to Fair Park on Saturday, and on Sunday, Rodrigo y Gabriela set Strauss Square ablaze with acoustic flamenco metal, and the Bouncing Souls bring a full night late-'80s pop punk to Greenville Avenue. On Friday, Richardson's Wildflower! festival kicks off a long weekend of great music, and fans are invited to spend An Evening With They Might Be Giants in Victory Park or An Evening With Kinky Friedman in Denton. Indie-pop Hippo Campus kicks things off in The Cedars Thursday night with a stripped-down sound. This week, we have great concerts nearly every day. Maybe, you have everything you could ever want, right here in this moment. The first two tracks full of self-doubt and this track is realizing that maybe everything’s fine. The title track “Warm Glow” is self-contemplation epitomized. Have you ever just sat outside and looked at the sunset and felt truly at peace? That is this song. ♫ WARM GLOW MORNINGS SOAKED IN PASTEL TEA ♫ This is something I believe most people can relate to and is brilliantly depicted in the song. Your past mistakes are distant memories that you can never undo. The song seems to be about longing for stability, but knowing that it isn’t in your nature to stay. Every lyric has a story tied to it and all you can do is have empathy for the pain. It feels so deeply personal that you feel it in every line. “Traveler” is a song about emotional pain. The lyrics of this song is like beautiful poetry. But, like any of the songs, it seems to be up to the listener to decide. Lyrically, it seems to be about judging a person wrongly. As soon as I heard the opening riff, I knew who I writing about this week. The song has more pop sensibilities than the other songs featured and has one of the catchiest hooks in my recent recollection. The lyrics, like many songs on the EP, are open for interpretation. The song “Baseball” is a masterfully-constructed indie-pop dream. Right out the gate, Hippo Campus delivers with the opening track. ♫ THERE’S SOMETHING FICTION ABOUT THE WAY THAT REALITY IS GOING ♫ Warm Glow is made up of three unique songs: And, this past week, Hippo Campus was featured as on our Top 10 Countdown. Last month, the band released a new EP titled Warm Glow. The band received some acclaim earlier this year with the release of their debut album titled Landmark. The band members Whistler Allen, Jake Luppen, Nathan Stocker, and Zach Sutton met in high school, formed the band, and struck it big.
